Himachal Lahoul Spiti Trek
Places to Visit : Delhi - Chandigarh - Manali - Rohtang - Chhatru

Duration: 18 Nights / 19 Days
Day 1 - Delhi
Met upon arrival at Delhi & transfer to the hotel for an overnight
stay.
Day 2 - Delhi-Chandigarh
Morning after breakfast drive to Chandigarh which is 255 KM and
takes about 6 hours. Arrive by lunch time. After lunch at the hotel,
proceed for city tour covering Rock Garden and Lake club. Overnight
stay at the hotel.
Day 3 - Chandigarh - Manali
Early morning after breakfast drive to Manali 310 kms (2050 M),
which is a 10 hours drive. Enroute stop at Bilaspur for splendid view
of Govind Sagar Dam and tea. Continue driving to Manali via Mandi
and Kullu. Lunch enroute. arrive Manali by late afternoon. After checking
in the hotel proceed for walk in the town. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4 - Manali - Rohtang - Chhatru
Early morning after breakfast drive to Chhatru via Rohtang pass
(3849 mt.)105 kms. The initial route follows the Manali - Leh Highway.
After 17 km from Rohtang pass at Gramphoo, Spiti link takes off right.
We will set-up camp at Chhatru. However After Chhtru there are two
more camping place at Chota Dhara and Batal. Depending on time we
can continue driving further to the nest camping place. Overnight
stay in tented camp
Day 5 - Chhatru - Kunzum La - Rangrik
Morning after breakfast proceed Rangrik 130 kms via Kunzum-la (4507
mt.). 22 km from Kunzum is Losar, first village of the Spiti valley.
Continue driving to RANGRIK which is 7-8 km before Kaza. Set-up camp
on arrival for overnight stay.
Day 6 - Rangrik - Kaza - Sichling
Morning after breakfast start driving to reach Sichling 45 kms
enroute visit Key. Key Monastery is an important Gelugpa center and
is seat of Lochen Tulku, the 24th Lotsawa Rimpoche. After sightseeing
of Key Monastery continue driving further to Kibber Gompa (The highest
village in the valley). Like Key, Kibber's temples are in Gelugpa
hands. Return to main road after visiting Key and Kibber and continue
driving to Sichling via Kaza, which is headquarter for Lahaul &
Spiti region. We set up camp for overnight stay at Sichling below
the Dhankar Monastery (3890 mt.).
Day 7 - Sichling - Tabo
Morning after breakfast drive to Tabo 32 km (3050 m) the ancient
cultural hub of Spiti. It houses the most famous Monastery of Himachal
Pradesh. This is over 1000 year old and treated as the most sacred
Monastery next only to Tholling Gompa in Tibet. The temples are built
in the west-tibetan style. The inner wall of Taboo is covered by frescos
and painting from Buddha's life. Often referred as `Ajanta of Himalayas'
Tabo's paintings are still preserved in most original form. After
sightseeing of Tabo, return to camp at Sichling for lunch. Afternoon
proceed for sightseeing tour of Dhankar (17 km round trip). Return
to camp for Overnight stay
Day 8 - Sichling - Gulling
Morning after breakfast drive to Mikkim (3087 mt.) via Gulling
32 kms. On arrival set-up camp for overnight stay. After lunch proceed
for sightseeing of Kungri Monastery. Return to camp for overnight
stay
Day 9 - Gulling - Tailing - Parkha
After breakfast, start the first day of trek 5-6 hrs by crossing
the Pin River Foot Bridge. Trek follows the Pin River on right bank.
Pass Khar and Todnum village and continue trekking to Tailing. Pass
the village and then cross a stream coming from front valley and climb
the hill slop following the Pin river. Continue walking till the valley
takes left turn at Village Mud. After walking for another 1 km camp
at a beautiful pasture land at Parkha (3900 mt.). Overnight stay in
tented camp.
Day 10 - Pharka - Phaldar - Bhaba Base
Morning after breakfast continue trek following the right bank
of Pin River to Bhaba base 6-7 hours. Cross Shian village enroute.
Further 01 hr is a beautiful and large camping area. Continue trekking
till the Pin river takes left turn. Camp at small green camping place
(4100 mt.). The valley towards right leads to Pin-Parvati Pass and
to the left to Bhaba Pass. Overnight stay in the tented camp.
Day 11 - Bhaba Base - Fushtiaring
Morning after early breakfast start trek (7-8 hours) towards Bhaba
Pass. The trek is gentle climb in the beginning through the moraines
and snow/ice patches. Closer to pass the climb is steep and sometime
slippery on loose screes. Trek climb-up towards left to the pass (4950
mt.). The descends steeply on the other side of the pass till the
valley opens up at Fushtiaring. Setup camp (4100 mt) on the banks
of Wanger River for overnight stay. The valley is greener as compared
to valley on Spiti side.
Day 12 - Fushtiring - Mulling
After breakfast start the down trek to Mulling 4-5 hours following
the Wanger River on the left bank. After 1 hrs the valley opens up
and makes T shapes with another valley in the front. Treks takes right
turn here and continue trekking after crossing a stream 2-3 times.
After another 01 hr the route takes left turn and crosses the Wanger
by a natural rock bridge. The valley becomes more green and forested.
Continue walking further to the open flat ground and camp there for
overnight stay.
Day 13 - Mulling - Kafnu - Kalpa
Morning after breakfast trek (3-4 hours) through the forest area
following the Wanger River on left bank. The route is heavenly forested
with pine, cedar and birch. Reach Kafnu, the last road head in the
valley. On arrival board the coach and drive to Kalpa (2900 mt.).
Check-into Tourist Bangalows/ Tented camp for overnight stay.
Day 14 - Kalpa
Morning proceed to visit the Monastery at RIKONGPIO. After lunch
proceed for hike to Village KOTHI, TELANGI and PANGI. Return to Kalpa
for overnight stay. Kalpa offer splendid view of Kinner-Kailash Range
and Shivling Parvat. Overnight stay in the tents
Day 15 - Kalpa - Sangla - Chitkul
Morning after breakfast drive for about 100 KMs to reach Chitkul
via Sangla. Stop at Sangla to visit Kamroo Fort. Continue driving
to Chitkul. Overnight stay in tents.
Day16 - Chitkul - Sarahan
After breakfast proceed to Sarahan 130 km by Coach through Baspa
Valley. Visit the famous Hindu Temple of Goddess Kali - Bhimkali Temple
and bird breeding center in Sarahan. Overnight in Tourist Bungalow
Day 17 -Sarahan - Kufri
Morning after breakfast drive to Kufri (Around 160 KM) via Narkanda
which is a famous holiday resort and 16 KM before Shimla. Arrive and
check into Kufri Resort Hotel. Rest of day at leisure.
Day 18 - Kufri - Kalpa - Delhi
Morning after breakfast proceed for Shimla. Stop at Shimla to
visit Rastrapati Niwas, Jakhu Temple. After sightseeing of Shimla
proceed for Kalka (3 hours) railway station to board Himalayan Queen
Express train for Delhi. The train departs at 1655 hrs and arrives
Delhi at 2215 hrs in the night. On arrival transfer to hotel for overnight
stay at hotel.
Day 19 - Delhi
Day free for independent activities. Departure transfer to airport
in time to board international flight to board flight for onward destination
