Travel Advice for India
A mix of various traditions, cultures, rituals, religions, casts,
etc. a comprehensive of all these is what we call INDIA. Also known
as BHARAT or HINDUSTAN. India is a Republic Country consisting of
28 states and seven union territories. Here are some useful tips for
India travel:
WEATHER AND CLOTHING
June - Sept the weather is very hot & wet as this is the monsoon
season. Don't wear synthetic stuff during these period as there is
a high level of humidity. You can wear cotton clothes during your
stay in India in these months.April to June are hot and dry, cooler
in the evenings. Therefore, carry light clothes with you like cotton
shirts, Short skirts/shorts, cotton trousers. Clothes should not be
too tight or body revealing.Best time to visit is between Oct- March
i.e. during Winters. These months in India are very cold. So, if you
are planning to come to in the period of October to March, carry some
woolen clothes, warm innerwear with you.
INDIA TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Passport and VISA along with their photocopies are the two most essential
documents you must carry with you if your are planning to visit India.
Passport : A passport valid for at least six months after return is
required for entry. Before the commencement of the trip kindly check
that your passport is in order and will be valid for the period of
your stay. Otherwise, get it renewed. Make sure to have your Passport
with you all the time.
Visa: The second essential document for an Indian visit is a VISA.
There are different types of visas for different travel purpose. Make
sure to apply for the correct visa type, as per the purpose of your
travel. Only in case of Nepal, you dont need any prior visa.
The only requirement is of identification papers, and visa is issued
at the airport itself.
INDIAN MONEY
Indian currency is known as Rupee. Most major credit cards are accepted.
Travelers cheques are not accepted at each and every bank. At
the airport, you can get your currency exchanged and also the moneychangers
at airports are open 24 hours.
ELECTRICITY
Electricity in India is 240 Volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second.
To adjust your device you will require a 2 round pins and three round
pins pug. If your appliances plug has any other shape, you will need
a plug adapter. If you plan to travel to India, it is better to get
a combination voltage converter and a plug adapter.
WATER
It is highly recommended that bottled water should be used. Bottled
(mineral) water is available almost everywhere. However, sometimes,
cheap fake bottled water is also given. To avoid this, make sure to
check that the seal of the bottle is intact. Also, see if there is
anything floating in it before buying. Never drink water from roadside
vendors selling water pumped up from the vends tank.
DISEASE
Before embarking on your India vacations, recommended vaccinations
are Hepatitis, Meningitis, Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid, TB (children only),
