Rajasthan - The state of Rajputs was filled with valour &
heroism. The way the air was filed with Mirabai's bhajan as
well as tingling sound of the weapons was heard all over Rajasthan.
And the women performed Johar - burnt themselves to death by
jumping into the burning pyres but, now it is history.
In the past , small territories with small areas were ruled
by the Ranas or the kings. The Ranas ruled for 1000 years. But
there was no friendship between Ranas. Due to this basic weakness,
time to time Rajasthan was attacked from outside. Rajasthan
which was mostly dominated by Hindus was first attacked by Muslim
king of Ghori Muhammed in 1193 and occupied Ajmer by defeating
Prithwiraj Chouhan. Allauddin Khilji invasion is legend today.
Then came mughals. Emperor Akbar made a family bridge by marrying
Amber's princess Jodha Bai. He was so much enchanted with the
Rajput valour that he appointed many Rajputs in his royal court.
Then came the British in Rajasthan. After the revolt of 1858
and establishing an empire in India, the British extended a
friendship to Rajputs and made them independent and built Rajputana.
Later, they indirectly took over the economic hold of the subcontinent
following mughal system.
