The Name "India" is derived from the river Indus,
the valleys around which were the home of the early settlers. The
Aryans worshippers referred to the river Indus as the Sindhu. Also
known as BHARAT or HINDUSTAN. The Persian invaders converted it into
Hindu. the name "Hindustan" combines Sindhu and Hindu
and thus refers to the land of Hindus.
India is a Vast Country. India is the world largest, oldest, and continuous
civilization. Some like to call it a sub -continent. It is bounded
by the Indian Ocean to the South, the Arabian Sea to the west, and
the Bay of Bengal to the east. It borders Pakistan to the north and
west; Nepal and the China to the north; Bangladesh to the southeast;
Bhutan to the northeast; and Burma to the east; Sri Lanka and the
Maldives to the South. |
